MENTORSHIP
During my time at University of Michigan, I had the opportunity to individually mentor three undergraduate students, including a senior thesis student, as well as providing support to other undergraduate researchers in the lab. I have trained students on various research techniques and lab protocols and supported some of them on individual research projects leading to conference presentations. I have also provided support for these and other students in the graduate school and job application process.
For two academic years (one as the lead), I served as one of the Graduate Student Mentors (GSMs) for the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department, a graduate student instructor position responsible for training GSIs in the department and supporting GSIs throughout the term. This role also frequently serves as an interface between graduate students and administration within the department, organizing student town halls and providing advice to fellow graduate students.
